Since the truce between Israel and Hamas took effect on October 10, the Gaza Media Office reports a dramatic escalation in violations by Israeli forces tallying 393 incidents that they say have claimed 279 Palestinian lives, wounded 652 more, and resulted in the detention of 35 people. The office described these actions as systematic attacks on civilians, homes, and temporary shelters, calling them a blatant breach of the ceasefire terms and international law.
In a strongly worded statement, Gaza’s media authority accused Israel of using “direct gunfire” in 113 documented incidents targeting residential areas, civilian homes, and the tents of displaced people. They also recorded 17 ground incursions by Israeli military vehicles into civilian and agricultural zones; 174 separate air and ground bombardment operations; and 85 demolitions of civilian infrastructure.
According to Gaza’s media office, these acts amount to a “deliberate and systematic campaign of destruction and collective punishment.” The statement stressed that such violations violate the principles of the Geneva Conventions, and called on the U.S. President, international mediators, and ceasefire guarantor nations to exert pressure and ensure Israel abides by its obligations.
The office urged the United Nations Security Council to intervene immediately, demanding that Israel comply fully with the ceasefire and protect Gaza’s civilian population. They warned that the continued violence “threatens stability in the Gaza Strip” and undermines the fragile terms of the truce.
Gaza’s health ministry and local emergency services continue to document the human toll. Many of the killed and injured are women, children, and the elderly underscoring the argument that these are not isolated military engagements but attacks on non-combatants.
The reported violations reflect growing concern that despite the ceasefire, large-scale violence is not just persisting but intensifying. Observers note that the continuation of such attacks will severely undermine any chance of lasting peace or meaningful reconstruction in Gaza.
